Dear Family and Friends -
We're so pleased to include you in this special event. For those of you planning to make the trek (and it is a trek to be sure), we've tried to include all of the necesarry information on this site. Here's an overview of the wedding plans with additional details available on the site as noted:
Location: The wedding, reception and after party will all be at or near our house on Fire Island. There are no cars on the island and everything is in walking distance once you're there. See the DIRECTIONS section of the site for details.
Getting to Fire Island: Fire Island is accessible only from a ferry in Sayville, NY on Long Island. For those traveling from or via New York City, the Long Island Railroad is the fastest and easiest way to get to Sayville but you can also drive and parking is available at the Ferry. See the DIRECTIONS section of the site for details on the exact location, train and Ferry service.
Where to Stay: Lodging on the island itself is limited but there are several hotels relativley nearby on Long Island; staying in Manhattan and making a day trip to Fire Island is also an option. See the ACCOMMODATIONS section of the site for hotel listings on and near Fire Island.
Schedule: Everyone should plan to arrive at our house between 3-3:45; the ceremony itself will be close by on the beach at 4pm followed by a reception with buffet dinner back at the house from 4:30-7:30. An after party is planned starting at 8pm at The Blue Whale located in the harbor. On Sunday we're also hosting a pizza pool party at the house from 12-3pm. See the SCHEDULE OF EVENTS section of the site.
Attire: "Summer casual chic" (i.e., something you won't mind being photographed wearing but also won't overheat in at a mostly outdoor event in the middle of July). The ceremony itself is on the beach, so be prepared with sand-friendly shoes or to leave them on the boardwalk steps. (Yes, they'll be safe.)
Food and other necessities: The Pines has a small commercial area in the harbor that offers a few food options: Pines Pizza, The Canteen (a grill/sandwich shop) and two sit-down restaurants - Pines Bistro (dinners only) and The Blue Whale (dinners and brunch). Also in the harbor is Pines Pantry (a small grocery store and deli that also sells sunscreen and basic toiletries) and Pines Liquor Shop. Please note: there is no doctor's office, clinic or pharmacy on the Island so it's important to plan ahead on prescriptions, etc.
Questions: If you have questions not answered here, please email us at: mikeandtom2015@gmail.com
Looking forward to seeing you in July!
Mike and Tom
